MAJOR MILESTONES 2019

In the fall of 2018 we decided to move to the city of Kasulu in Western Tanzania to set up our own production facility. Since then, a lot has happened.

In March 2019, our team flew to Tanzania and visited the almost finished construction site. We introduced our business to the relevant stakeholders and conducted workshops at five different institutions.

In April, the set-up of our facility was completed and we started the testing processes of our raw materials.

In July, we produced our first filter batch and received the official certification of our filter quality by the Tanzanian Ministry of Water.

Meanwhile, our managing director Stefan Gerbes was able to place 2nd in the Dopper Changemaker Challenge as well as becoming a finalist of the social engagement award by the German Academic Scholarship Foundation, both entailing significant financial support for Waterfilter, that we are very grateful for.

In 2019, we produced and delivered 67 filters to households, schools, and health centers and educated over 3000 people about hygiene during our water filter workshops. In the first two months of 2020 alone, we have already distributed 45 filters.

We are looking forward to continuing this trend and effectively extending our impact in the remaining three quarters of 2020!
